Welcome !

Malabar Muslims better known as Malabaris in Malaysia are Muslims
originating from the narrow belt along the southwest coast of India , identified
with the present State of Kerala. Majority of these people come from the
northern region of this State , known as Malabar.
Currently the number of Malabar Muslims in malaysia is estimated to be between 100 000 to 150 000. Most of them live along the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia thoush a small numbers are scattered all across the country
The term Malabari is no more in usage in Kerala. During the British era, the term was used to to refer to the northern half of the present day Kerala but its usage has evolved in Malaysia - referring to Muslims with roots from the ancient area of Malabar, the 'malayalam speaking hilly coastal area', ie. Kerala . Thus the term 'malabari' in Malaysia as we choose to be known, is thus now truly Malaysian term.
This website is dedicated to introduce this small community to the outside world and at the same time maintain the heritage and archive knowledge of the past , the present hoping to help the younger Malabar Muslim community remain united in the times to come....
