Leadership and unity
"Leadership has a
harder job to do than just choose sides. It must bring sides together. "
--Jesse Jackson
There problem of unity is a sensitive issue and great care must be taken so accuse anyone. Otherwise all your plans of creating will back fire. Arguements are common in any group but the successful community are those that can solve these problems amicably and those that can put aside their differences and work together for the development of the community. I personally feel that there are two main causes why there is a problem of unity among Malabari.
Firstly , I don't think there should be a social problems. We tend to bring our personal problems in to the public forums in order to even the score and get support. Problems that can and should be settled between family and friends , find its way into social organizations. As a result the whole community gets dragged into the these issues and gets blown out of proportion. We must all thus try our best to keep our personal interest out of the social work.
Secondly and more importantly I feel that there is a lack of respected community leaders that everybody would listen to. Such leaders were there even 20- 30 years ago in our very own setting. When they talk, people listen and follow. They were able to settle feuds between people be it in their personal argument or even business settlements. This is how 'pancahayat ' used to function n our community. The settlement that they make are agreed upon by both involved parties. Now this 'panchayat' still goes on , but since there is a lack of universally accepted leaders, the decision is not respected by all parties.
