PETALING JAYA: Its struggle to get into Barisan Nasional to fight for the rights of the Indian-Muslims is among the top issues to be discussed at the Malaysian Indian-Muslim Congress' (Kimma) 31st annual general meeting today.
The AGM would also touch on the urgent need to have an Indian-Muslim senator voice their woes in Parliament, said Kimma deputy secretary-general Mohd Fazil Abdullah.
The AGM will be held from 8.30am to 2pm at Rumah Puspanita Building in Jalan Hose, Kuala Lumpur.
“There is no one to speak on our behalf in Parliament and to highlight our problems. Even the film industry has a representative (Datuk Jins Shamsudin).
“We have been trying for years to get into Barisan Nasional. It's been 31 years now since we were formed and all this while we have been strong supporters of Barisan but we are not part of the coalition,” said Mohd Fazil who is Federal Territory Kimma chairman.
He said some members were being lured away by the opposition parties.
“Our community is being left out in many ways,” he said.
